Beagle
General Facts :
This is a sturdy and squarely-built hardy small hound that has a easy-care and sleek short coat. The coat can come in any hound color, for example: tri-color, black & tan, red & white, orange & white or lemon & white. The Beagle is similar in appearance with the English Foxhound. The dog’s muzzle is square and straight and the skull is broad and a bit rounded. The Beagle hound has wide ears that are pendant. The dog’s brown/hazel eyes have an unique pleading expression.
The dog carries its tail gaily but never curled over the back. When they are hunting, these dogs have a distinct howl. The Beagle is a sweet and gentle dog that is always curious and simply loves everyone. A very sociable and intelligent dog that is excellent with children and good among other dogs but not so good among other non-canine pets. The Beagle requires patient and firm training and doesn’t like to be left alone so if you are gone for a long period of time it is advisable to buy two dogs.
Origin :
The Beagle is one of the most popular scent hounds in the world thanks to its energy and sweet disposition. The breed was created by mixing the Harrier with other hounds in Great Britain. These animals have been used in packs or alone to hunt not only pheasant but also hare and quail.

Height : Between 14 and 16 inches ( approximately 36 to 41 centimeters )
Weight : Between 22 an 25 pounds ( approximately 10 to 11 kilos )

The Beagle has a loud baying cry that can be disturbing to neighbors or even family. If you own a dog like this you must never forget that this breed has the tendency to follow its own nose, regardless of what the master tells him. If leash-free, these dogs may take off on their own personal expedition so it is advisable to keep them in a fenced yard. Regarding their health issues, they are prone to chondroplasia, heart diseases, eye, back and epilepsy problems.
These dogs will do well in an apartment but it is advisable to keep them in a small yard where they have the possibility to run around as they need a lot of exercise. The Beagle are often used for medical experimentation due to the fact that they are uniform in size and small. Their life expectancy is around 13 years.
